What Are the Major Local Arbitral Institutions That Deal With International Commercial Disputes in Turkey?

The most popular destination for arbitration in Turkey is Istanbul Arbitration Center ‘’ISTAC’’.

ISTAC was established to ensure that disputes, including those with foreign elements, are resolved by arbitration or alternative dispute resolution methods.

ISTAC is an institution which governed by Istanbul Arbitration Center Code No.6570.

The duties of the Center are:

  • To determine the rules regarding arbitration and alternative dispute resolution methods and to ensure the execution of services.
  • To promote and publish on arbitration and alternative dispute resolution methods, to encourage, support and carry out scientific studies on this subject, to cooperate with relevant persons and institutions in the country and abroad.
