Chinese EV Brand WM Motor Achieves Milestone: First Electric Vehicles Exported to Israel

WM Motor (Weltmeister), a Chinese electric vehicle brand, successfully exported its first batch of vehicles to Israel on July 25, 2023.

According to images released on WM Motor’s official social media account, rows of brand-new EX5-Z white models were seen lined up and ready to be shipped to Israel.

On the afternoon of July 25, 2023, at Shanghai Port Haitong Wharf, the ro-ro ship Jupiter Leader, operated by NYK, set sail with a cargo of 50 WM Motor EX5-Z models destined for Israel.

This shipment marks a significant milestone as it represents the first batch of Chinese brand new energy vehicles purchased by Israeli customers in collaboration with CHINA EV GROUP Co., LTD (CHINA EV).

This milestone also marks smooth progress in WM Motor’s overseas business operations and the gradual resumption of normal operations following the resumption of production.

Since 2022, WM Motor has been working on obtaining European Union certification. In July 2022, the WM Motor EX5 model received the WVTA (Whole Vehicle Type Approval) certification for the EU, and this month, the WM Motor E.5 model obtained the SSTA (Small Series Type Approval) certification for the EU. The company is also accelerating the certification application process for its other latest models.

For Chinese automotive companies, obtaining vehicle certification from the European Union is akin to obtaining the “golden key” for exporting vehicles. This is because the EU has the strictest regulations and inspection standards for automobiles, serving as the benchmark for access to import vehicles in other countries and regions.

As a result, WM Motor’s vehicles gained entry into markets such as Spain, Germany, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and South America after obtaining the EU’s WVTA and SSTA certifications. The successful entry into the Israeli market was partially attributed to WM Motor’s EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval obtained ahead of the Israeli car exhibition.

In March 2023, WM Motor announced receiving an order for ten thousand vehicles from overseas, marking the first major order for the company in its foray into the international market. It was also the first significant export order for a domestic emerging electric vehicle brand.

In early July 2023, WM Motor sent sample cars of its EX5 and E.5 models from Shanghai to Barcelona, Spain, and Hamburg, Germany, to participate in dealer tours and market tests in both regions. At the same time, the company made inroads into the South American market and began mass production for export orders from Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

Now, in less than a month, WM Motor has successfully delivered its first batch of ordered vehicles to Israel, demonstrating the company’s robust supply chain management and factory coordination capabilities and signifying its steady progress in overcoming challenges.
